Color-Coded Lyrics

Creating a new product was never easy but instead, we should take a deep breath and working hard to approach success.

Round five of Multimedia/Technology class, I worked on a project using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere Pro. Cindy, our teacher gave us the time for us to review the lessons that we learned in the whole year and we were allowed to work on our own project using some of the tools we have learned.

I chose my own project which is to create a color-coded lyrics video – a type of lyrics video that is used for a group of singers – with the color filter for the person who is singing and the rest of the team will be in a blackout filter. Before this project, Getting to watch other songs that have the color -coded lyrics had been a very wonderful feeling to me. To me, I definitely wanted to create the video before but thought that it will be a big challenge and that I would need to spend a lot of time on the video. Therefore, I changed my mind and I didn’t make it succeed. However, when there is a chance for me to create a product as the result of the round for Multimedia class, I decided to make a color-coded lyrics video. I took a deep breath and was ready for the beginning of my journey and the steps that I have to face before meeting success. The work reference is a video on Youtube that I watched called How to create color-coded lyrics. The video was extremely useful but there were some obstacles that I still needed to face. One of the problems was I couldn’t find the tools in Photoshop because I was using a different workspace from the video so I asked my friend and he helped me to find the solution. Also, the video only showed how to make the cover of the video but not putting the lyrics and changing the filter. Therefore, I needed to find a way for myself to have a product at the end. While I was putting the lyrics end, there was one more issue – I couldn’t find the fonts that worked for Korean fonts so I looked for help on the internet. I tried to follow the steps that the internet showed me but it didn’t work smoothly. As such, I made the decision to ask my friend again. However, he also did what I just did from the internet and it didn’t work again. Frustration started running in my brain and increased the feeling of disappointment. I didn’t give up though, I tried looking for the Korean font in the font tool. Fortunately, I saw a font with Korean words so I clicked and it worked the way I wanted. Fascination started taking control of the frustration in my feeling and helped to save the loss of happiness back. I was quite enthusiastic and started to work and work on the project until I would finish and the outcome is what I expected it to be.

I enjoyed working on the project so much; I really love the work that I have done. To me, it is such a great accomplishment. This was a new experience for me. “Watching others have it is very interesting but never look down on yourself that you can’t do it.”: a quote from me. I wish I could have my own time, spending time to create the video again and I would always accept the chances that I have.  Here is the product below this article:

Acids and Bases

What are Acids and Bases? How do they act in daily life?

Acids and bases are our main courses during this journey of the class. We have read the article in CK12 to understand more about them. They look definitely similar but somehow they are different. Then, what are they?

Acid

Therefore, what is an acid, so acid is an ionic compound that creates positive hydrogen (H+) when dissolved in water. Sour taste is the property of acid, which all sour tastes are acid such as lemon, orange and more (warning: Never taste an unknown substance ). Moreover, the acid also conducts electricity because it consists of charged particles in the solution. Acid is also important in the world because some products contain acid. For example, sulfuric acid is used to manufacture many products such are paper, paint, and detergent. There is also a way to detect acid, which we use an indicator. An indicator will change the color when acids come to contact with. An example of the indicator is a compound named red cabbage. Red cabbage is a liquid chemical that will changes the color depends on how much acid contain in some products including vinegar, sodium bicarbonate, bleach and more. You can also try to test the acid in your drinks too like coca cola, or sprite. While pouring the red cabbage indicator in another liquid, combine together will change the color. Then you can use the pH scale to notice whether how high or low is the acid in that liquid.

Base

A base is an ionic compound that produces negative hydrogen (OH-)  when dissolved in water. Also base shares its own certain property as well, including bitter taste. All bases have bitter taste including soap, coffee and more. In addition, the base feels slippery, you can imagine how slippery soap is. Therefore, soap is also including in base. Like acids, bases also conduct electricity because they consist of charged particles in the solution. Bases incorporate in certain products including soap, bleach, and so on. We can use red cabbage indicator to detect both acids and bases.

This picture shows the level of pH Scale. Under the pH of 7 are acids and above the pH of 7 are bases.

The Sparkle Happiness

“Enjoy your life as much as possible because it is your happiness that you have found!”

From Pinterest

The theme of this round in English Literacy is Happiness. As hearing the word “Happiness”, I could understand the class will have an effect on the life that we have every day.  At first, without learning about happiness, I assumed happiness as enjoy and be happy with family and only about family. However, after learning about this, I have realized how happiness is connected to life. Every piece of our life may consider having happiness. Some people might think happiness is related to money while others also assume happiness is not including failure, struggle, and tears in their life. A quote said that” Everybody wants to be happy, nobody wants to be in pain. But you can’t have a rainbow without any rain”. The quote has shown that you can’t have happiness without any pain at all. Accept the struggles and failures you made because they can lead you the way to seek your own happiness. Whereas, money is not all related to happiness even though you have much money and you are happy. However, the study said that if we use our money to give to other people, they will be happy and we are happy too. This is the way of getting happiness by using money. Moreover, emotional well being and life evaluation are also connected. The distinctions between those two are emotional well being is the quality of a person’s experience every day such as joy, sadness, anxiety, excitement, and more, while life evaluation is person’s thought about his or her life. It’s also good to think about emotional well being but it’s also good to think about how your life evaluation’s going on.

Overall, this round taught me clearly about what is happiness and also how to reach it. Importantly, from what I studied, I could find my own happiness, the real and true happiness ever.

The Study of Percentage

20% is equal to 0.2

With this round, percentage is what we have learned and practiced. I like learning about percentage because there are numbers and we can use fraction and decimal in this lesson. Percentage is developing the world to be easier in some ways. It makes people life easier in knowing what is the overall number of what number. For instance, 100% is the overall number of percentage so if you have 20% of all the candy in the shop which means that you have 20% of 100%. Compare to whole number, that you have 65 candies of all the candies in the shop. As we can see, the information that they provide is not sufficient which means we don’t know the overall candies in the shop. Therefore, percentage is the way easier in usage for the world of math. However, if we would like to know what is 20% equal to, the requirement is rather to know the overall percentage is equal to whole  number or the remaining candies in the shop which is 80% is equal to whole number. If 100% is equal to 50 candies so how can we find 20%. In addition, 20% of 100% is alike 20% of 50 candies. As I said before, fraction and decimal are all relate to fraction so we can change 20% to fraction and as well as decimal. Then we got 20/100 or 0.2 and because 50 is the whole number of 20% so we take 50 times 20/100 ( 20% ). After that, we got 10 which also means we buy 10 candies out of 50 candies in the shop. Clearly, we could understand how percentage made world easier.

Also, we have practiced transferring decimal to percentage and percentage to fraction and decimal. It made me clearer after practiced some of the exercises. Overall, I have enjoyed studying percentage that I assume would necessary for any situations.

Code Club Project

For this round, coding still continues as our learning materials. Importantly, this round is more interesting for me than in the last round. I can tell you the reason why. In the last round, we mostly did the assignments on the code board so for me, it is a little stressful. In this round, what I found out so interesting is we get to do the work on the new website which is code club and trinkets. I really like code club because the website provides me with the instructions of how to code things but still, I also need to understand the instructions that the website gives. Every time, I code the instructions into the trinket which is a website for writing our codes, I thought of why do they put this instruction for me so I know and understand it to myself. Occasionally, problems are sometimes stuck in my brain because I completely have no idea what does the instruction even mean so it’s a little difficult for me to understand them all. However, challenges happen in everyday life so I accept them and try my best to find the solutions. I consider challenges as good things because then I can understand them and learn about them a lot to improve myself to be better. As I have told you about the code club website, all the students have chose different choices out of 5 projects. I chose a project, secret to message because at first, I did catch attention to that project. In the secret message, I didn’t learn only coding, I learned how to do encryption which is hiding the words, the sources of the secret words and how to do decryption which is how to get the text back to normal by encryption. There was a whole process when I was writing the code and it brought me with thousand of wonders but I managed them all. Coding using code club as instruction is fun as I am a person who doesn’t really like coding.

Overall, this round I had a great experience with learning about different things that I have never try before which is I find a little difficult because coding is hard to me so I need to ask questions and try to understand  in the class.

The Journey of Ecotourism

Nature is being threatened by human hands and definitely needs our help, no matter what they do, there always the consequences that may affect them and the whole world.
Ecotourism, what does that mean? At the first time involving in this exploration, I didn’t know what Ecotourism means. Do you know what does that mean? Until our facilitator, Teacher Bunthan, explained us with an ecotourism website, video and pictures. Ecotourism is the tour that brings the tourists into a green world, nature. In addition, Ecotourism has many advantages for the lives of people, nature, and animals. Unfortunately, a few areas in Cambodia are getting hurt by the people for their own purposes. That is making up the goal of our exploration is to preserve the natural resources that we do not want to let them get away which also means to create an ecotourism site that located in Bangkern Phal village, Romtum commune, Rovieng district, Preah Vihear province. There is also an indigenous community living there so it could be attractive to the tourists and we also keep the tradition by letting others know and understand.
In order to make this project going to succeed, all of us have interviewed both tourists and the villagers over there.
We had three different trips and each trips had different purpose. The first trip that we have been to is Chambok. Chambok is an ecotourism site in Kampong Speu province that has been created by Mlup Baitong organization. We went there to learn more about Chambok so we could understand more information about ecotourism. Then I have realized that ecotourism is also with the community which means that we also show the tourists how the community looks and what is the potential there in the community. Moreover there are many more activities that including in ecotourism too such as Khmer traditional dance show, hiking up the mountain, and cook the traditional cake. We had so much fun there while we also learn many new things that we didn’t know before. As my own experience, the first trip really made me understand a lot more about ecotourism and business skill as well. After that, we discussed with each other again about the next step of the project. Therefore, we decided to do the survey the tourists inside the city. Plus some places that we have selected to, which were Wat Phnom, Tuol Sleng Museum, and Independent monument were considered having many foreign tourists over there. We have created the Google form for survey the tourists so it would be easier for us to see the responses and number of people. During the survey, I was learning something new too. At first, I was a little afraid in talking to the tourists but after I tried talking many times I’ve been becoming better. The tourists are so friendly so it made me want to talk with them. Overall, we have interviewed 253 people. We found out that 209 of 253 would love to visit our ecotourism after the project exist. While the others are not sure and do not want to go. After all, we have done with the step of survey the tourists so we have a discussion again about the next step. Therefore, we will go to the indigenous community to explain them about our project and ask for their opinions. On the day 1 of our trip to Bangkern Phal village, Rumtom commune, Rovieng district, Preah Vihear province, we had a presentation about what is and the data about the survey form. We are proud of yourself because we let them understand what is ecotourism and they did understand well after the presentation. They also listened to s carefully so they can be in touch of everything we have explained. I was so nervous when I presented to them because there are many people ans I need to use microphone but then I suddenly just talked without worried. We’ve also let them discuss in a small team and let them presented about their opinions of the impact of ecotourism. Most of them have presented with the positive impacts but there are also some negative impacts to the community. Day two, we have walked around the village to interviewed the villagers. They are so friendly which made us smile and laugh together. A lot of them said they definitely love our project and they want that to occur in the future. At the end of the exploration, we did a report so the round 2 students can read and understand what have we done in round 1.
All in one, this exploration has taught me many new things that I have never try before including business skill, being friendly to people, environment and much more. I hope that this project will exist in the future with our effort into that because we can solve some problems in the community such as preserve the forest, and getting the indigenous community attractive to the tourists . At last but not least, Ecotourism exploration provided me many skills that I will need for the future.

The Search of Identity

Can I ask you a question? Where do we come from? Why do we have divergent personalities? What is our name for?

Absolutely, I don’t ask you one question but I also curious about everything such that. In fact, all of us come from our parents. We have inherited each half of our parents’ gene. Although, our personalities are very unfamiliar with each other because of our emotions and thoughts.

One major thing is our names. I am confident in saying that my name defines me who I am and my personality.

From time to time, we will start changing our mood and also thoughts but the piece of letters will stay there with you forever.

Decimal

Within this round, we are up on the next level which is Math 5 B. In the first lesson, we were learning about decimals and that is what the students have been learning last year too. This lesson is to remind us the what are the importance of decimal. Decimal stands after a decimal point to the right of the whole number. The number that stands next to the right of the decimal point is in tenth place and then hundredth and then thousandth. We’ve also known the way to convert fraction to decimal and decimal to fraction ( picture below).
